Lion Sands River Lodge

Luxury Room
Each light and spacious room has a canopied king-sized bed (convertible to three quarter), dressing table, minibar, air conditioning, ceiling fan, and a full en-suite with a range of deluxe organic amenities – and because views of the river and bush cannot be wasted, we built a private deck beyond its fold-back glass doors.

Superior Luxury Room
The 6 Superior Luxury Rooms are larger in size, and have ample open-plan bathrooms and outdoor showers. 4 of the 6 Suites are inter-leading, and are therefore ideal for families.

River Suite
The 3 River Suites are the most spacious and private, set further away from the main lodge and each with its own deck and plunge pool making the most of the view. Step inside to a large bedroom leading on to a full en-suite leading out again to an open-air shower.

Family River Suite
This suite, with two bedrooms and an en-suite between them, is ideal for a family or friends. Both bedrooms can be configured as double or twin and when laid out for children. The suite comes with a private pool and viewing deck.

Game Drives
Head out each day at sunrise and again in the late afternoon. Lion Sand’s natural animal population includes the Big Five, and the reserve is especially renowned for the quality of its leopard viewing – normally regarded as the most elusive of predators. With exclusive traversing rights on both Lion Sands’ Sabi Sand and Kruger Park sections, guests are assured a truly intimate safari experience.

Bush Walks
Immerse yourself in the bush, rather than just observing it. All five senses are engaged, as you feel scrub crunch beneath your feet, touch the velvety acacia seed pod, hear the crack of a branch indicating they are not alone, and spot big game at eye level – exhilarating!

An opportunity to experience a different – and humbling – way of living by visiting culturally- and historically-significant sites to connect with local people.

Stargazing
During evening game drives or bush dinners (weather permitting), the field guides will share insights into the skies.

A Night in a Treehouse
The million-star Chalkley and Kingston (Sabi Sand) and Tinyeleti (Kruger Park) are the ultimate bush bedrooms, where romantics, adventurers and solitude seekers alike can discover the magic of a night out in African – in complete luxury. A Treehouse Experience is booked in conjunction with lodge accommodation.

The hours between safaris are an ideal time to spend being pampered with a selection of indulgent therapies offered by expert therapists in the quiet retreat of the lodges’ spas or open-air bush salas.
