Dining
Showcasing New Zealand’s finest, often sustainably produced ingredients, the menus at Huka Lodge are daily changing and reflect the seasons and the environment outdoors. Meals are enjoyed in the elegant surrounds of the Dining Room with mesmerising views to the Waikato River. A hearty country-style breakfast, a light à la carte lunch, and a dinner of fresh local and regional flavors are all served with the tradition of generous hospitality for which the lodge is world-renowned.
Activities
Taupo is located in the central North Island and is blessed with superb recreational opportunities. Lake Taupo and its many rivers and streams attract very serious rainbow and brown trout fishing. Expectations of catching a trophy-size fish are not often disappointed. Aquatic adventures abound and include kayaking, river rafting, sailing, swimming, paragliding and more. On land, horse riding, guided walks, mountain biking, golf at nearby Wairakei International Golf Course are all very popular activities. Within the Lodge grounds enjoy tennis, croquet, petanque, swimming, and spa treatments.
Set among the cool, quiet reserves of the Wellness Grounds, the Huka Spa is a tranquil sanctuary. Luxurious and restorative treatments for body, mind and soul invite guests to embark on a personal hikoi (journey) to a peaceful sonic backdrop of birdsong and the rippling passage of the Waikato River as it flows downstream. Guests emerge from the spa feeling refreshed, lighter of spirit and naturally connected to the wairua (soul) of Aotearoa.
